The establishment of operations in China and, more broadly, Asia is a great benefit to our portfolio companies as it facilitates each company’s exposure not only to a low-cost source of manufacturing, but also to the burgeoning Asian markets. However, this is a process fraught with difficulty and risk for companies at the lower end of the middle market due to capital investment and managerial time requirements that can be overly burdensome. It has been our experience that in order to successfully operate in Asia it is necessary to have competent external oversight by individuals, such as those at Anderson Asia, who are familiar with local customs and who have experience in managing businesses.

To help our portfolio companies overcome these obstacles to develop and implement a coherent Asia strategy, The Anderson Group has established Anderson Asia, which is managed by an Anderson partner who has significant knowledge of the region and experience in all aspects of conducting business internationally.  

 The Anderson Group Asia Provides Services Including:  

• Consulting: Most significantly, Anderson Asia provides consulting services regarding the establishment and implementation of an Asia strategy to Anderson portfolio companies. In doing such, Anderson Asia aids portfolio companies in the monitoring and management of their Asia operations and Asia supplier/vendor relationships as needed.  
• Sourcing/Supply Introduction Services: Anderson Asia consults with portfolio companies to locate potential vendors and identify sources of supply.
• Financial Support: Anderson Asia offers financial assistance to comply with complex foreign regulations and requirements.  Additionally, Anderson Asia aids portfolio companies in monitoring cash and in Asia-centric financial projects (i.e. acquisitions, local financing and capital expenditure projects). 
• Site Identification/Facility Services: Anderson Asia assists portfolio companies in identifying potential sites on which to locate their Asia operations and aids in the negotiation of leases/purchases of these facilities. 
• Human Resources: Anderson Asia assists portfolio companies in identifying and hiring key executives and other managers in Asia.   
• Legal/Service Provider Liaison Services: Anderson Asia serves as a liaison between our portfolio companies, their Asia operations and any Asia-based service providers including lawyers, accountants, quality control firms, etc.  Anderson Asia is able to assist in the process of establishing Asian entities and holding companies, obtaining manufacturing or other operation licenses, coordinating with auditor or lawyer meetings or in other general due diligence matters.
• Logistics/VAT Support: Anderson Asia assists portfolio companies in consolidating their freight forwarding/shipping contracts, if applicable. This permits companies to achieve bulk pricing rates which would otherwise be unattainable for smaller businesses. If feasible, Anderson Asia also assists in the collection of VAT fees and rebates for each Anderson portfolio company.  
• Transaction and Visit Management Services: Anderson Asia consults with portfolio companies concerning potential merger and acquisition transactions in Asia and will work with portfolio companies to manage the visits of key executives, including car/driver, translator and other travel services.
